Fanny Campbell

Fanny CampbellSomething I’m still tweaking here and there. Fanny Campbell was a woman that disguised herself as a man, signed herself on as a sailor, staged a mutiny and became captain of a ship, then sailed down to Cuba to bust her man out of prison. After the prison break, she and her future husband become privateers (i.e. government sanctioned pirates) on the side of the Americans during the revolutionary war. You can get the longer version of her story here.

Bloody MaryMary I of England was half-sister to the considerably more amiable Elizabeth I. Mary earned her rather gruesome nickname after she had several hundred religious dissenters burned at the stake during her five-year reign.

How to make a Bloody Mary: 3 parts vodka, 6 parts tomato juice, 1 part lemon juice. Add dashes of Worcestershire Sauce, Tabasco , salt and pepper into highball glass, then pour all ingredients into highball with ice cubes. Stir gently. Garnish with celery, salt, lemon wedge and olives (optional).
